Last week, we had the pleasure of staying at this exquisite hotel to celebrate my mother’s 75th birthday, marking her first ever visit to Japan. The staff at the hotel exemplified professionalism, generosity, and a remarkable friendliness, truly embodying the esteemed Japanese spirit of hospitality. The facilities were impeccably maintained, leaving no room for complaint. Our accommodations were flawless, complete with hot water, substantial pressure, and meticulous cleaning services. Every corner of the hotel, from the diverse restaurants and cafés to the laundry and housekeeping services, showcased top-tier excellence. As Americans, we are accustomed to a certain standard of service, yet the hospitality extended to us here surpassed our expectations, and indeed, American service standards, by a substantial margin. The hotel staff’s thoughtful gestures, particularly the beautifully crafted gift presented to my mother at the restaurant, did not go unnoticed. The culinary delights, ranging from exceptional Chinese cuisine to traditionally served Japanese dishes, were a feast for the senses, complemented by stunning views from the top-floor Japanese restaurant. What truly set this experience apart, however, was the unparalleled level of service. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, demonstrating kindness and a willingness to help at every turn. This, above all, has instilled in us a fervent desire to return in the near future. In summary, our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. The hotel provided a perfect backdrop to our celebration, leaving us with cherished memories and a profound appreciation for the genuine hospitality that is the hallmark of this wonderful country.

Great location right at Watanabe-dori Station and easy walking access to a bunch of different attractions. The extras, that one would not receive at a business hotel, were certainly appreciated - we used the hotel to send home all of our souvenirs and dirty laundry via Yamato/Kuroneko and it was super convenient, with no extra charges applied by the hotel staff. The staff measured and weighed our boxes at their package station and completed the paperwork for us. We also utilized the shoe shine service, dropping off shoes near 2230 in the evening, which were then promptly delivered at 0600 the next day. Two breakfast options at the New Otani - a Japanese breakfast that takes place on the top floor (the round part of the building that is visible from the exterior), and a western-style buffet breakfast that is available on the first floor. The Japanese breakfast is a set meal that is relatively filling and features local specialties like mentaiko. The western-style buffet is decent but did not appear to rotate its menu during a week-long stay. Overall both breakfast options are convenient and satisfactory.

location - next to subway...pleasant surprise to have a massage chair in the room which was a daily 'treat' for us after day long sightseeing or shopping...a great bonus.... and room is cleaned daily which is not always the case in some other hotels... room size is big relatively to other hotels we had stayed during this all kyushu trip

The service is impeccable as a 5 star hotel, without the steep price. We were fortunate to have a room upgrade. The staff helped put our luggage in the room, hail a taxi in the early morning, and the concierge helped with restaurant reservations. The room was clean despite being an older building. It is very close to the metro as well.

The service of the hotel is exceptional. We have forgotten our passports when we check out on 7 May 11am, and the staff actually called my phone to inform me about this not long after we left the hotel. So we managed to get our passport back with everything intact. This is truly exceptional service from the hotel staff.
